TULSA, OKLA. – The University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved an ambitious plan in Tulsa today to incrementally increase enrollment in the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program in the OU College of Medicine at OU Health Sciences by more than 40% over the next five years – a strategic initiative designed to address the critical demand for additional health care professionals in Oklahoma.

The 2025 Discovery Day program is intended for the purpose of exposing high school students to the numerous programs offered at The University of Oklahoma Health. Discovery Day will be on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 8AM-5PM. The goal of Discovery Day is to provide guidance toward a professional health career to high school students who have expressed an interest in the health sciences. By attending Discovery Day, participants will be able to describe action steps needed to pursue a career in the health sciences, given the chance to explore educational opportunities at The University of Oklahoma Health in depth, and foster connections with like-minded individuals. Students will participate in presentations from OU Health's Recruitment & Admissions as well as the OU Norman Campus' Office of Admissions & Recruitment. Participants in the 2025 Discovery Day can expect the following outcomes:

Applications will be reviewed by OU Health's Recruitment & Admissions and accepted participants and their legal guardians will know by Friday, June 20, 2025. There is limited availability for this program due to the more immersive experiences associated with the day. Registrants will be responsible for their transportation to and from the University of Oklahoma Health campus located in Oklahoma City.
